Global Multi-Asset Portfolio Manager
Nick Whyatt is a seasoned global portfolio manager with 27+ years of experience investing across publicly traded debt and equity markets. His career began at The Capital Group, a $3 trillion active asset manager, where he rose to become a Partner in 2006 and managed $5bln across multiple investment mandates. Nick honed a distinctive macro-oriented approach to complement Capital’s bottom-up research model, building deep expertise across Commercial Paper, Sovereign and Corporate Debt (IG & HY), Asset-Backed, Hybrid, Equity, and FX securities.
Investment Thought Leader
From 2017 to 2020, Nick was a portfolio manager based in Hong Kong and then London for Capital's $26bln Global Balanced Fund (RGBGX). Between 2019 and 2020, he spearheaded the launch of the firm's top-down asset allocation and cross-sector research initiative. From 2012 to 2020, Nick was responsible for equity research and discretionary investments in Asia primarily focusing on banking, brokerage, and real estate sectors. In addition, Nick held global debt investment and equity sector allocation responsibilities in Capital’s $123bln World Growth & Income fund (CWGIX).
Business Development Leader
Nick held non-investment leadership roles at Capital focused on talent management, business development and investment group compensation initiatives through membership of the China Group, European Oversight, Asian Fixed Income Launch, Trainee Associates, and Investment Review Committees. In addition, he developed key Asian mutual fund distribution relationships with UBS, DBS and HSBC.
Asset Management Entrepreneur
In March 2022, Nick co-founded WR Global (WRG) to pursue a nimble, conviction-led, multi-asset investment strategy. At WRG, he launched and managed four core mandates (Global Income, Growth & Income, Growth, and Financials), deploying his own capital. Beyond portfolio management, Nick led the firm’s operations, regulatory oversight, legal, HR, finance, trading, and strategic development. Nick transitioned to establish Birch Partners (BP) as a Family Office in October 2024. BP is continuing to deliver superior long-term returns across Global Income, Growth & Income, Growth, Defensive and Sector Focus mandates.
